Since the massive success of God's Not Dead back in 2014, Pure Flix Entertainment has been working hard on their followup film, God's Not Dead 2. This film is releasing in theaters around the country on April 1st, 2016. If you haven't already read about this movie, the synopsis says:
"Welcome back to Hope Springs … home not only of Hadleigh University, but also Martin Luther King Jr. High School, where beloved teacher Grace Wesley helps students understand and enjoy history. Her love of teaching, her love for her students, and her love of life all come from the same place: her love of Christ.
So when Brooke, a hurting student grieving the loss of her brother, reaches out to Grace, their coffee-shop conversation naturally leads to Grace sharing the hope she finds in Christ.
When Brooke later asks an honest question about Jesus in the classroom, Grace’s reasoned response lands her in big trouble—almost before she even finishes giving her answer.
With the principal and superintendent joining forces with a zealous civil liberties group, Grace faces an epic court case that could cost her the career she loves and expel God from the classroom—and the public square—once and for all!"
It will be interesting to see if this film has the same staying power and viral nature as the original. Are you planning on seeing this film in theaters? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned for our full review of this film!

One thing Christian films can often get criticized for is being similar to a lot of other Christian movies, or not being any more creative than any other film. Today, we wanted to let you know about a fascinating and different new Christian film, Yellow Day. This film is a unique blend of both live action and 3D CGI. Computer graphics are not often used in Christian movies, and it's exciting to see a new company trying something new and innovative. the synopsis for this movie reads:
"Yellow Day chronicles a young man's life-changing and inspirational journey through the mysterious Yellow Day. To many, the Yellow Day is simply a fun day celebrating outreach at a kid's camp, but to some, God bestows visions and miracles, transforming their lives. For this young man, the Yellow Day becomes an imaginative adventure: showing him true heroes, challenging him to face his fears, find love, and inviting him to accept grace, so that he can be shaped into who he is meant to be. On this day, the young man is presented remarkable stories in Faith, Hope, and Love coming from true stories of real life heroes in the special needs, chronic illness, and domestic abuse communities at the extraordinary Camp Grace, a beautiful retreat with the motto: "Lives are changed and souls are strengthened." Guided by a friendly 10-year-old girl, his spiritual journey back to the light, to witness the triumphs of others, face his fears, and fulfill his destiny, will test the strength of both his faith and his courage."
Yellow day will be in theaters on Christmas Day (which is only four days away!). If you want to purchase tickets, you can visit Fandango to purchase tickets. We love spotlighting Christian films that are trying to get funded on Kickstarter or Indiegogo. It's important that we help support these projects, so we have more positive Christian media in the market. Today we want to spotlight Redemption Way, which is currently running a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The synopsis on their page says:
My name is Brad Podowski. I am a Christ-follower, husband, dad, the owner of BP Video+ and a freelance camera operator and editor.
At the heart of this story, Redemption Way is about sharing our hope in eternity with those we love. Sharing my faith is particularly challenging for me, which is why I'm so personally invested in this project.
Your contribution not only makes this film possible, it also has the potential to change lives.
Making a film is an expensive endeavor, even for low budget filmmakers like myself who watch every penny. There are a tremendous amount of people who invest their time and talent into making a film and they need to be compensated in some form, even if it's simply food and credit. Catering alone can cost a minimum of $5,000 for an 18 day indie shoot, which is a tight schedule for a feature length film. It's very important to show the cast and crew how much they're appreciated, so at a minimum I want to be able to pay key members a stipend for their time. Here's a brief list of how the money will be used:
-Formation of an LLC
-Travel and Lodging for Select Cast Members
-Key Cast and Crew Salaries (Depending on how much we raise)
-Professional Sound Mix
-Promotional items, etc
You can find out more information about this campaign over on their Indiegogo page: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/redemption-way-a-faith-based-feature-film. We really hope that this campaign is a success and we look forward to reviewing this movie someday when it's released. In the meantime however, they would really appreciate you sharing this project and helping spread the word. Together, we as Christians can support media that makes a difference!
Looking for something to do this weekend? Well, another Christian film is appearing in theaters this weekend -- Woodlawn from PureFlix Entertainment and the Erwin Brothers! We've been anticipating the release of this movie for quite a while and we're glad to see another Christian movie getting a full theatrical release. The full synopsis for this film reads:
"A gifted high school football player must learn to boldly embrace his talent and his faith as he battles racial tensions on and off the field in WOODLAWN, a moving and inspirational new film based on the true story of how love and unity overcame hate and division in early 1970s Birmingham, Ala.
Tony Nathan (newcomer Caleb Castille) lands in a powder keg of anger and violence when he joins fellow African-American students at Woodlawn High School after its government-mandated desegregation in 1973. The Woodlawn Colonels football team is a microcosm of the problems at the school and in the city, which erupts in cross burnings and riots, and Coach Tandy Gerelds (Nic Bishop) is at a loss to solve these unprecedented challenges with his disciplinarian ways.
It’s only when Hank (Sean Astin), an outsider who has been radically affected by the message of hope and love he experienced at a Christian revival meeting, convinces Coach Gerelds to let him speak to the team that something truly remarkable begins to happen. More than 40 players, nearly the entire team, black and white, give their lives over to the “better way” Hank tells them is possible through following Jesus, and the change is so profound in them it affects their coach, their school and their community in ways no one could have imagined."
You can find out more about purchasing tickets on their website here. Are you planning on seeing this movie in theaters or have you already? If so, let us know your thoughts in the comments below! And as always, be sure to stay tuned as we bring you more news on all things Christian film!
