Wait Till it's Free Coming Soon

Another film is on the way! Gunn Productions, which has produced films such as Indroctination, Captivated, and Act Like Men, is well on their way to completing their next documentary, Wait Till It's Free! This new film takes a look at healthcare here in America through insightful interviews with people in the medical field. The full synopsis reads:

'Wait Till It's Free' is an entertaining and provocative look at the current healthcare crisis. Coming at the healthcare issue from a non-partisan but none-the-less conservative and Christian outlook, this film takes a hard and honest look at the way we do healthcare in America. The film looks at every relevant aspect of modern medicine, from the escalating cost of health insurance to the move towards universal government healthcare. The film asks what kind of alternatives there are for families caught between expensive insurance-based coverage and the "Free" government solutions. The film explores the alternatives for individuals, churches, and families, and offers moving and enlightening stories about those that have chosen to follow innovative and independent approaches to healthcare.

This promises to be an exciting new film by producer Colin Gunn, and should be released in early 2014. It was posted on the Wait Till It's Free! Facebook page yesterday:

Tomorrow will be the final interview of the Wait Till It's Free production tour. We've been all around the nation interviewing the experts and capturing the stories of the of American healthcare crisis.

Iliad House: An Audio Drama

August 17th, 2013

Iliad House by Phil Lollar on Kickstarter

Another form of Christian media that I really enjoy besides film is audio. I love learning about new audio dramas, and listening to all the many stories that this form of media creates. A new audio drama is in the works by Adventures in Odyssey co-creator Phil Lollar, called Iliad House. This audio drama tells the story of Jesse Davidson, and the full description reads:

"Fourteen-year-old orphan Jesse Davidson lives with his emotionally-distant and peculiar uncle Christopher Portalis in the Iliad House, a mysterious old mansion on an island off the east coast of the United States.

Just when Jesse is finally getting used to living on the island, he discovers that the old abandoned train he and his friends have been using as a clubhouse for the past year can actually move—through time!

They get caught up in a series of adventures fraught with temporal distortions, political intrigue, secret societies, and supernatural battles, all as they try to cope with the daily pressures and craziness of adolescence.

While traveling through the future and the past, they learn hard truths and secrets about themselves, and that there is forgiveness and redemption available to all who desire it. And, as Jesse and his uncle come to understand each other, Jesse begins to see that there is much more to Iliad House, and to why he and his uncle are there, than anyone realizes."

They have also released a short promo clip giving you an idea for the feel of this exciting new audio drama:

However, in order for this project to come into existence, they need your help to fund Iliad House through Kickstarter, a very popular crowdfunding website. They're trying to raise $100,000 dollars to produce the first season of the show. If you think this will be an exciting project and would like to help out, you can learn more about Iliad House on their Kickstarter page.

This looks like a very exciting new show, and we would love to see it come into existence. Phil Lollar has certainly done a tremendous job working on Adventures in Odyssey, a show that is still running after 26 years, and Iliad House will certainly be an interesting new endeavor for him. If you believe you want to get behind this project, be sure to support them here, and stay tuned as we will bring you more updates on this show, if it is successfully funded.

Spotlight: Audio-Technica ATR-3350 Microphone

August 12th, 2013

One of the main problems that filmmakers with a very small budget have is sound quality. While you can do certain things to make your video look better, there are certain times when there's nothing you can do about bad audio. Maybe the on-board microphone picks up camera noises, or just tends to hiss a lot, one great solution is to purchase a cheap lapel mic to fix some of your problems.

Last year, I was searching for a cheap audio solution, when I came across the Audio-Technica ATR-3350 on Amazon for around $20. After watching a few test videos, I purchased one of these, and have definitely gotten my money's worth out of it. The microphone has an extremely long cable allowing you to stand a far distance from the camera and still pick up good audio quality, without all of the normal hiss.

For only $20, don't be expecting it to sound as blissful as a Hollywood movie, as it does still have some background hiss, but I found a certain setting on my editor that cleared the hiss up terrifically. But, as low as the price is, it far exceeds the quality of most camera microphones and is well worth it. One downside is that you do have to have a separate recorder to record the audio if your camera doesn't have a "Mic In" port, but I believe it is well worth the extra trouble to get better quality.

So, if you're in need of a cheap audio recorder just to give your video a little more professional quality, look no further than the Audio-Technica ATR-3350. For a cheap price, you get solid sound quality, and it far exceeds the ability of any normal camera microphone.

New Direction for the Kendrick Brothers

August 5th, 2013

The Kendrick Brother's Sherwood Pictures New Film Information

Many have heard of or have seen a movie by the Kendrick brothers (The ones who made Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and Courageous) and may be wondering what their plans are. A few months ago, the Kendrick brothers announced the new direction they are taking in a post on their website.

The Kendrick Brothers announced that they will be starting an independent movie production company, where their ultimate goal will be to teach the next generation on how to make Christian films. They will not be producing any more films in the foreseeable future under the name Sherwood Pictures, but instead will produce their next film under their new production company. It says on their website,

“God has been clearly speaking to us through His Word, in prayer, and through the counsel of our pastor and other Godly men. This decision has come out of a faith-step of obedience to God’s leading. We dearly love our pastor, Michael Catt, our executive pastor Jim McBride, and our church family. They have believed in us, prayed for us, and sacrificially supported us every step of the way. We see the wisdom of the Lord’s timing in all of this."

But what about any new movies? Do they plan to have any new films coming out any time soon? According to an article on christianretailing.com, it appears that the Kendricks are hoping to release a film late 2014 to 2015. Only time will tell as the Kendricks continue to do amazing things for God in the Christian Film industry. Be sure to check back soon as we will have all the latest on the Kendrick's new project as details become available.
