On May 22nd, 2013, two years ago today, Christian Film Central went live to the public. It's been an exciting journey, and I've been absolutely amazed by all of the incredible experiences I've gotten to have because of this website. This year in particular has been such a blessing, as we've seen exponential growth on this website. We've now reached over 70,000 people in the history of our website, with more visiting all the time. In the past year we have:
Thanks for all the support and encouraging notes over the past two years, and we're looking forward to bringing you lots more news, videos, and reviews over the next year! If you haven't already, you can subscribe to our email newsletter for all the latest news, or you can subscribe to our Youtube channel to keep up with all of our latest videos!
I apologize that there has been less content appearing on this website over the past few months. I've been working on building a web design business, and it has been harder to keep up with everything. However, we will continue to keep this website updated, and there are no plans to stop working on this website any time soon. In fact, we have lots of ideas we're hoping to implement over the summer, so as always, stay tuned!
Again, we really appreciate all the support. Every Facebook like, Youtube subscription and email subscription really does make the difference!
Yet another movie was recently released in theaters, Where Hope Grows. This movie is making history by being the first American film to feature an actor with Down syndrome in the leading role. The synopsis for this film says:
"Calvin Campbell is a former professional baseball player sent to an early retirement due to his panic attacks at the plate. Even though he had all the talent for the big leagues, he struggles with the curveballs life has thrown him. Today, he mindlessly sleepwalks through his days and the challenge of raising his teenager daughter. His life is in a slow downward spiral when it is suddenly awakened and invigorated by the most unlikely person – Produce, a young-man with Down syndrome who works at the local grocery store.
Calvin slowly loses the chip on his shoulder as he begins to experience the world through Produce’s eyes. Faith, work, purpose and most importantly family, blossom into Calvin’s life as their friendship develops. The unlikely pair becomes intertwined giving Calvin’s life new meaning and purpose, but unfortunately leads to tragedy due to single decision echoed from Calvin’s past.
Where Hope Grows is a story of finding redemption through faith, hope and love."

As we enter into the summer movie season, a new film is now premiering in U.S. theaters - Noble. This movie was released in the UK last year, but has now come across to American theaters. The synopsis for this film reads:
"They broke everything but her spirit. They took everything but her dream. NOBLE, the award-winning feature film, is the incredible true story of a fearless Irish heroine driven by her daring vision to escape the slums of Ireland and risk everything on the streets of Vietnam.
Winner of six U.S. film festival awards, including the Panavision Spirit Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the powerful biopic drama written and directed by Stephen Bradley is heralded by critics as "raw and genuinely powerful," "captivating" and "moving." The Hollywood Reporter calls it "a joyful and rousing affirmation of the human spirit that will resound widely."
This is definitely one of the biggest films being released this year, and even features some pretty well-known actors, like Brendan Coyle from Downton Abbey. You can find out more about this film in our New Movie section. Also, we'll be doing a review of this film very soon, so be sure to stay tuned for that!
Last Christmas, Unbroken released in theaters, a powerful movie documenting the story of Louis Zamperini. However, some people were unhappy with how the story ended in the film. Many were upset to find that Zamperini's conversion story was strangely absent in the film. After the events depicted in the movie, Louis Zamperini ended up attending a Billy Graham revival, and spent the rest of his life serving the Lord. Obviously, people were not happy to find this whole section of Zamperini's life was nowhere to be found in the movie. Last month, Unbroken was released on DVD, and a special Legacy of Faith edition was also released. This set features over 90 minutes of extra behind-the-scenes footage giving more insight to Zamperini's conversion story. Anyone who left the film wondering what happened to Zamperini in real life following the events of the movie will definitely be interested in finding out more about this special edition. The synopsis for Unbroken reads:
"At the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Louis Zamperini won a personal meeting with Adolf Hitler, who complimented his fast finish. In 1941, Zamperini enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was deployed to the Pacific, where his plane received heavy damage during combat. He was assigned to another aircraft and told to search for missing crews, but the plane crashed in May, 1943 due to a mechanical failure. Most of the men died during the crash, but Zamperini survived for 47 days on a raft before being captured.
Zamperini spent the rest of the war in Japanese internment camps. His abductors' brutality drove him to the limits of endurance, but his hope and tenacity saw him through, and set him on the road to a life-changing encounter with God. The triumphant tale of a true American hero!"

Last summer, we saw the reboot of a popular Christian book franchise, Left Behind. Unfortunately, it was met with less-than-spectacular reviews, and any hope anyone held of a sequel being released quickly vanished. However, it would appear that they are still moving forward with a sequel. Now, The Left Behind Movie Project is seeking to raise $500,000 on Indiegogo to fund their next film, Left Behind: The End Begins. They wrote on their page:
"We’ve already been working hard planning for Left Behind 2 and that will continue as our top priority for this year. But it won’t happen without your help. Please join the Left Behind Film Project by making a contribution and helping us reach our goal. Any and all contributions get us closer to our fundraising goal, but more importantly it shows that there is support for this film – and other Christian films. You’ll not only be ensuring that the franchise continues, but with all net proceeds from this campaign going straight into the production budget, you’ll be directly impacting the theatrical release of the film. Choose from our exciting perks and help us get started today!"
It will be interesting to watch and see how this campaign does. A lot of people were not happy with the reboot and may not be willing to help fund this film. However, this is a flexible-funding campaign, meaning they will receive all funds, no matter how little they raise. You can visit their Indiegogo page for more information. Be sure to check back in three weeks and see how this campaign did!
It would seem that almost every week now a new Christian movie is premiering in theaters! Today, Beyond the Mask is making a premiere in theaters across the country. If you haven't heard about this new action-adventure movie, the synopsis reads:
"Double crossed and on the run, an assassin for the British East India Company seeks to redeem his past by thwarting a plot against a young nation's hope for freedom.
The leading mercenary for the British East India Company, Will Reynolds has just been double-crossed and now is on the run in the American Colonies. Working to redeem his name and win back the affections of the woman with whom he's never been fully truthful, Will now hides behind a new mask in hopes of thwarting his former employer. As his past life closes in on him, Will must somehow gain the trust and the help of his beloved Charlotte - as well as Ben Franklin - while he races against time to defuse a plot of historical proportions. There has been a slew of less-than-stellar biblical movies released from Hollywood lately, such as Noah or Exodus: Gods and Kings. A group of people is now hoping to combat that with their new film David and Goliath. Their hope is to give a more accurate depiction of biblical history through this film. The synopsis says:
"The high-profile movie opens in theaters April 3. 'DAVID AND GOLIATH' is considered one of the three big Bible-based films out in theaters. The film shot in North Africa and in studios in London tells of one man, and his astounding faith, who went against all odds to defeat a giant from the Philistine army. See why pastors of all denominations are supporting this faith-based event of 2015!"
This movie is being released in theaters around the country. You can visit their website at www.davidgoliathmovie.com. If you do get to see it, please let us know what you thought of it in the comments!
