Do You Believe? Update

January 5th, 2014

A few months back, we informed you of the latest movie from Pure Flix Entertainment, Do You Believe? This movie is from the same creators of the very successful film God's Not Dead, and is now set to release in theaters on March 20th, 2015. The movie will feature Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Mom's Night Out), Andrea Logan White (Revelation Road, Mom's Night Out), and another Newsboys song, We Believe from their CD Restart. The synopsis for this film reads:

"A dozen different souls—all moving in different directions, all longing for something more. As their lives unexpectedly intersect, they each are about to discover there is power in the Cross of Christ … even if they don't believe it. Yet.

When a local pastor is shaken to the core by the visible faith of an old street-corner preacher, he is reminded that true belief always requires action. His response ignites a faith-fueled journey that powerfully impacts everyone it touches in ways that only God could orchestrate.

This stirring new film from the creators of God's Not Dead arrives in theaters Spring of 2015. More than a movie, it's a question we all must answer in our lifetimes: DO YOU BELIEVE?"

It will be interesting to see if this movie reaches as many people as their previous film, God's Not Dead. We'll be sure to give you our thoughts once this movie is released! In the meantime, what do you think of this movie? Were you a fan of God's Not Dead? Let us know in the comments below!

Spotlight: Captured by Grace

December 31st, 2014

Many of you may have seen the recently released movie, Unbroken. While it has received some positive reviews, many thought it did a disservice to the story by leaving some very pivotal moments out at the end of the film. That's why we're spotlighting another film about the story of Louis Zamperini, Louis Zamperini: Captured by Grace. The synopsis for this film reads:

"The movie Unbroken tells the story of Louis Zamperini, a World War II prisoner of war survivor who spent 47 days on a raft in the shark-infested waters of the Pacific Ocean. And while the film details much of Zamperini’s life, including his Olympic career as a distance runner, it only shines a light on part of Zamperini’s gripping story.

Louis Zamperini: Captured By Grace tells the story of life after returning home a hero. Through the power of the Gospel—and his experience at the 1949 Billy Graham Crusade in Los Angeles—Zamperini overcame alcoholism, night terrors and a failing marriage to live a full and joyous Christ-centered life until his passing at age 97, inspiring millions along the way."

You can find out more about this film at their website. If you do watch it, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below! And from all of us here at Christian Film Central, have a Happy New Year!

Holy Ghost on DVD

December 19th, 2014

Holy Ghost, a film originally funded on Kickstarter, has just been released on DVD! This was an interesting film, and while we may not have agreed with it entirely, it sparked some interesting conversation on an episode of the podcast. The synopsis for this film reads:

"Can the Holy Spirit direct a movie? In this fast-paced documentary from the director of Finger of God, Furious Love and Father of Lights, Darren Wilson sets out to make a movie that is completely led by the Holy Spirit. No plan, no script, no safety net – just go wherever he feels the Spirit leading him to try and discover the adventure God has for him. Whether its the riches of Monte Carlo, a heavy metal concert, or the oldest city in the world, the result is a film that not only challenges and excites, but also reveals a God who is far more alive and active than you ever imagined."

You can find both the original version of this film, or the deluxe edition, featuring three DVDs over on their website here. This is definitely a film worth discussing, whether you agree with it or not. After you've seen it, be sure to let us know what you thought of it in the comments below!

New Movie: The Good Book

December 14th, 2014

When we think of silent films, we normally picture classic movies from the early 1900's. But what about a modern day Christian film? Well, say hello to The Good Book, a silent Christian movie being released in February of 2015. The synopsis reads:

"The Good Book movie is the first evangelical silent feature to be released since sound was added to movies. It tells the story of a small New Testament that is passed along from individual to individual. These include young and old, rich and poor, blessed and forsaken. For seven of the strangers, it provides hope and meaning when they need it most."

This should be an exciting and unique film, and we're looking forward to reviewing it next year on the podcast! Be sure to stay tuned as we bring you the latest on this film as it nears release. And if you have any thoughts, be sure to let us know in the comments below!
